The Self Concept Series and Weave is a powerful, practical self concept model developed by Dr. Radd and integrated throughout The Grow With Guidance System.  Dr. Radd explains how self concept develops and is impacted by experiences and behaviors.  The three steps of the Self Concept Series and Weave are explored and clarified in detail in this podcast interview so that there is a clear understanding of the importance of self concept in healthy life skill development.

Dr. Theresa O’Halloran interviews Dr. Radd for a dialogue on the importance, application, and impact of self-concept in our lives.  Dr. O’Halloran has been a counselor since 1989 and a counselor educator since 1997. Dr. O’Halloran’s work as a counselor focuses on treatment of addictions, trauma, depression, anxiety, and communication skills with adolescent and adult individuals, couples and families. Her research and writing focuses on issues in counselor training, multiculturalism, and career development.

Dr. Tommie Radd is a Professor of Counselor Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Dr. Radd holds a doctorate in Elementary Education Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Akron. She is a licensed professional counselor holding National Board Certifications and numerous counseling, teaching, and administrative certifications. She has developed an educational systems model for use in schools that is based on over 30 years of research. This model integrates the self-concept series, invitational education, and other best practices to create classrooms and schools that are “life labs” for student success.
